RESUME![]() Brian Ripley interview BNN Jul-2010
I consider all forms of working relationships: employee, contractor, partner, or shareholder.
I expect a minimum of CAD$100/hour or CAD$1000/day plus expenses (travel, food & lodging) on a short or long-term contract basis. I prefer to do in 4 hours what others might do in 8. I would accept a commission on revenue generated by my actions, or I would be willing to offer you a fixed fee for a completed job. I am always open to negotiation where job location or creative input appeals to me. Contact me. My strengths are demonstrated in my experience:(1969-1974) Performance and Public Expression
Leaving university I worked and studied as a musician playing popular music of the day in clubs and venues across Canada and occasionally in the U.S. (1974-1988) Relationship and Consultative Sales For 10 years I worked in residential real estate sales and then for 5 years I excelled at commercial and industrial real estate sales and leasing which included 2 years of acting as an Agent Nominee. (1988-1995) Business Creation I left the real estate industy and expanded my skills at planning, implementation, marketing, sales, purchasing, negotiating, inventory control and entrepreneurial activities. I bought a bankrupt retail video business and transformed it into a quarter million dollar a year success and subsequently sold it in 1995. (1995-2000) Customer Accounts My management skills grew as I took on record keeping, accounts receivable, collections, payroll, banking, loans, tax and licensing requirements; liaison and relationship maintenance with customers, suppliers, professionals, competitors, and business partners. I partnered with an existing low tech wholesale distributor and within two years transformed the business into a centralized system reducing expenses and hours of operation from 5 days a week to only 3, using very simple digital tools and systems. I sold this business in 2000. (2000-2011) Individual Client Marketing I continued creating value by providing business solutions on a contract basis for various clients as well as designing, building, hosting and managing websites which included helping clients to make better choices about their promotional efforts. During this decade I began to focus on the Financial Markets with great kudos and appreciation to a peerless mentor since 2001, Bob Hoye. I continue to market and manage the subscription accounts for Institutional Advisors as well as publish my commentary about the Canadian real estate market using original charts covering market values against a backdrop of Gold, Oil, CPI, Interest Rates, the Canadian Yield Curve and the TSX S&P indicies for Housing, Financial Services, Energy and Gold. I also provide the current Canadian census population data, Stats Can employment earnings, mortgage affordability tables and a quick and easy spreadsheet for discovering real estate value. I update the commentary, the monthly price change summary, the housing and financial charts, the percentage price change scorecard and the Plunge-O-Meter every month. (2012-Now) The Fouth Act I continue my relationships in the financial markets and am working on creating a new business model that will bring to bear over 4 decades of experience into a cloud based environment.
